Cleveland Beach is a 500-metre sandy pocket inside Cleveland Beach Provincial Park at Hubbards on St. Margaret's Bay, about 45 km — roughly 40 minutes — from Halifax. It sits a short way up the shore from its busier sister Queensland Beach and shares the same warm-ish, gentle water — around 17°C in July and 19°C in August — while drawing a fraction of the crowd, which is exactly why locals keep it in rotation. The surf is calm and the swimming genuine: shallow grades and sheltered conditions make it a dependable family swim spot within an hour of the city. Facilities include free parking, washrooms, and picnic tables behind the beach; there are no change rooms or canteen, so bring what you need for the day. There is no lifeguard supervision — stay in sight of young swimmers. Crowd levels run low to medium, and wheelchair access is limited; dogs are welcome on leash. Cleveland works as either a quick stop or a full afternoon: pair it with Queensland when you want facilities and crowds, or keep it to yourself and continue down the Lighthouse Route toward the Aspotogan Peninsula and Lunenburg.
