Grand Slam of Curling National

The Grand Slam of Curling National lands at Centre 200 in Sydney from November 17–22, 2026 — the biggest curling event Cape Breton has ever hosted, and the third stop of the 2026–27 Grand Slam season. One of the circuit's four charter events, first held in 2002, the National brings 16 men's and 16 women's teams to the island for six days of elite competition. This is curling at the very top of the sport: Olympic medallists and world champions trading the most audacious shots in the game, inside Cape Breton's largest arena — roughly 5,000 seats wrapped tight around championship ice.

The format is pure Grand Slam: fields are filled through the World Curling Team Rankings, sponsor invitations, and satellite event berths, so every draw features contenders. Nova Scotia has its own storyline — Team Christina Black holds a sponsor's exemption in the women's division, giving the province a rink on curling's biggest stage. Play runs three draws a day, Tuesday through Friday, as round-robin pools sort themselves out, then tightens into playoff Saturday and Sunday finals that reward the full-weekend ticket. The Slams broadcast beautifully on Sportsnet, but curling is a sport that's better in person — you hear the sweepers calling the line and watch a stone's path bend in slow motion a full sheet away.
