The Cottages

All nine cottages are equipped with heat pumps — air conditioning in summer, efficient heating in winter — plus indoor propane or wood-burning fireplaces, making them comfortable in every season. Cottages 2 through 8 can add a wood-fired saltwater hot tub for $65 plus HST per stay; each tub is emptied, cleaned, refilled with fresh ocean water, and heated over a 6–8 hour process, so the add-on must be requested at least 24 hours in advance. A tote of firewood is included, usable for the hot tub or the beachfront wood-fired sauna. Every cottage has at least one parking spot, with additional space at the office.

The Beach and Amenities

The private beach and breakwater are the heart of the property — a protected swath of St. Margaret's Bay that is calm enough for a paddle and shallow enough for families. Gear rentals (kayaks and more) are available on site, and the wood-fired sauna sits right at the beachfront for the classic sauna-then-plunge routine. Booking, Seasons, and Policies

Wilson's operates on two seasonal rhythms. Beach Season runs from the Friday before Victoria Day through Labour Day, with a three-night minimum; Cozy Season (the rest of the year) has a two-night minimum. Check-in is 3:00–5:00 pm at the office, with emailed instructions for late arrivals. Cancellations made within 48 hours of booking get a full refund; after that, a $175 plus HST administration fee applies until 15 days before check-in, 50% of the reservation is charged between 7 and 14 days out, and 100% within 7 days. Getting There: From downtown Halifax, take Highway 103 west to Exit 5 and follow St. Margaret's Bay Road (Route 333) through Hubbards toward Boutiliers Point — roughly 25 minutes. The resort is on the ocean side of the road shortly before Peggys Cove Road branches off.
