Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21
Pier 21 at 1055 Marginal Road on the Halifax waterfront is the last remaining ocean immigration shed in Canada. Between 1928 and 1971, nearly one million immigrants first stepped onto Canadian soil through this building. The museum now tells those stories through interactive exhibits, personal artifacts, and oral histories — covering everything from the early waves of European immigration to the refugee processing of the post-war period and the present day. For many visitors, standing in the same hall where their grandparents entered Canada makes this the most personally resonant stop on the Halifax waterfront.
