Detailed Information
Introduction
Mystic Restaurant has emerged as one of Halifax's most intriguing dining destinations since its debut in September 2024. Perched over the Atlantic at Queen's Marque, surrounded by water on three sides, this dining room has quickly drawn attention for its ambitious culinary vision under chefs Malcolm Campbell and Bill Osborne. The restaurant's focus on Nova Scotia's seasonal bounty, with menus themed around local fauna and biota, positions it as a celebration of regional ingredients and culinary craftsmanship. Despite being relatively new to Halifax's competitive dining scene, Mystic has already earned the #6 spot on Canada's 100 Best New Restaurants 2025 list. This early acclaim points to a dining room with real ambition and considerable potential.
The Menus: Fauna, Biota, and the Galley
Mystic offers three distinct ways to dine. The signature menus β Fauna and Biota β are twin eight-course progressions through land and sea, both $165 per person, differing in their dishes rather than their length, and changing with what the region's farms, fisheries, and foragers supply. The Discovery Menu seats a limited number of guests at the Galley, the chef's counter wrapping the open kitchen, for an eight-course tasting created in real time each night. The Short Form Menu condenses the experience into four courses at early and late seatings, offered in very limited capacity daily, and the Unwritten Bar program pairs two bespoke cocktails with chef-curated courses at the bar. Vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free adaptations are available for all menus; the improvised Discovery Menu allows only limited accommodation.
