Features & Highlights
Detailed Information
Every Thursday morning, rain or shine, Lunenburg's farmers market fills a hall on Green Street with the town's weekly social hour. The market has gathered on Thursdays for more than thirty years, moving between the Lunenburg Arena in the warmer months and the Lunenburg Community Centre just down the street in the colder ones β the only thing that changes with the seasons is the roof overhead. Vendors from across the South Shore set up stalls of produce, baked goods, preserves, coffee, cheese, and crafts, and the market doubles as a meet-the-neighbours ritual that visitors are warmly welcome to join.
Schedule & Location
- When: Every Thursday, 8:00 AM β 12:00 PM, year-round.
- Where: Lunenburg Arena, 19 Green Street (mid-May to mid-September; the 2026 summer season begins May 7). Lunenburg Community Centre, 15 Green Street (mid-September to mid-May).
The market shifts between the two halls each spring and fall, so check the current season before your visit. Both buildings are a five-minute walk from the waterfront in Lunenburg's UNESCO-designated Old Town.
What You'll Find
The vendor list changes with the harvest but is reliably excellent. LaHave River Berry Farm brings berries and preserves; Laughing Whale Coffee Roasters pours the market's favourite morning cup; Blue Lunenburg Chocolates and Happy Bean Chocolates cover the sweet end; Boulangerie la VendΓ©enne and Moonjelly Bakes sell fresh bread and pastries; Roma Cheese Ltd. stocks European-style cheeses; and Tanner & Co Brewing pours samples of its craft beer. Farm stalls like Rumtopf Farm, Fitch Lake Farm, and Suprima Farm offer whatever is in season, while the Wild Heart Oyster Cart shucks oysters on the spot and Kim's K-Food and Amina's Syrian Kitchen add an international lunch option. Beyond food, you'll find Seaweed Soap Co., LaHave Weaving Studio, and the Lunenburg BeeKeepers.
