Detailed Information

Lunenburg Municipality Community Events

Lunenburg Municipality runs community events year-round across Old Town Lunenburg, its villages, and the waterfront. The anchor is the Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival - Nova Scotia's longest-running music festival, held each August - alongside the Lunenburg Craft & Food Festival in July, which marked its 50th anniversary in 2026 with two days of artisans and food vendors on the waterfront.

Many events are free and family-friendly, with Zwicker Wharf and the waterfront boardwalk the main summer gathering spaces. The town is one of only two urban UNESCO World Heritage Sites in North America (the other is Quebec City), so events play out against historic streetscapes, working wharves, and 18th-century buildings.
