Quick Facts
About Halifax Salsa & Bachata Festival
The Halifax Salsa & Bachata Festival was Atlantic Canada's premier Afro-Latin dance celebration β a four-day cultural festival that transformed downtown Halifax into a vibrant stage for dance, music, art, and community connection. Now in its eighth year, the festival celebrated the richness and resilience of Afro-Latin culture through a mix of free and ticketed events that brought the Halifax Waterfront, Bedford Row, and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia courtyard to life.
The 2026 lineup spanned three signature days. Thursday opened with Salsa by the Wave, a free and family-friendly dance night right on the waterfront. Friday brought the Rhythm & Soul Street Fest β a high-energy block party featuring food vendors, pop-up dance showcases, dance lessons for all levels, and a live concert. Saturday peaked with Arte y Ritmo, the Afro-Latin Street Gala and Art Exhibition, with over 50 local and international performers, live bands, DJs, and guest instructors taking the stage across the weekend.
Beyond the parties, the festival offered workshops and social dancing for everyone from curious first-timers to seasoned dancers, alongside a marketplace of authentic Afro-Latin food and crafts. Whether you came to dance until late, to watch world-class performers, or simply to soak up the rhythm, the Halifax Salsa & Bachata Festival was one of the most joyful weekends on the city's summer calendar.
