Not Since Moses 5K/10K

Not Since Moses is one of Nova Scotia's most extraordinary — and most unusual — running events. Held on the exposed ocean floor of the Bay of Fundy at extreme low tide, the race lets participants literally run where the sea usually stands, across a seabed covered by up to 50 feet (15 metres) of water at high tide. Starting and finishing at Five Islands Lighthouse Park, it's a bucket-list experience that pairs athletic challenge with one of the natural wonders of the world.

The 2026 edition took place Sunday, August 16, offering 5K and 10K distances plus youth races, all timed to the tide chart so runners could complete the course before the world's highest tides rushed back in. The route wound across the red mud and rock of the ocean floor beneath the soaring sea cliffs of the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark, passing sea stacks and ancient geological formations usually hidden beneath the waves. It was as much a geology lesson as it was a race.

Featured on Tourism Nova Scotia's "Don't Miss Events" list and drawing runners from across Canada and beyond, Not Since Moses sells out quickly. The surrounding Five Islands area offers spectacular coastal hiking, the Partridge Island trail, and some of the Bay of Fundy's most dramatic scenery — making it a perfect anchor for a late-summer Fundy Shore road trip.
