About Sherbrooke Village Chowderfest
Sherbrooke Village Chowderfest turned the historic Main Street of Sherbrooke Village into an open-air seafood dining room for one delicious August evening. Part of Nova Scotia's living-history museum on the Eastern Shore, the festival invited visitors to settle in at reserved tables for a coastal tasting experience that celebrated the flavours of the province.
The star of the evening was the chowder. Guests chose from award-winning seafood chowder, classic fish chowder, or creamy corn chowder β or sampled all three with a chowder flight. Each meal was served with a fresh biscuit, garden salad, beverage, and house-made dessert, and the fish and corn chowders were vegetarian-friendly so the whole table could join in. Tables were reserved for the 5:30 PM seating, with live local music throughout the evening and alcoholic beverages available to purchase.
Chowderfest is one of the culinary and heritage events that bring Sherbrooke Village β a reconstructed 1860s lumber, tall-ship, and gold-rush town on the Napu'saqnuk / St. Mary's River β to life each summer. The 2026 edition, held August 7, paired costumed interpreters, heritage artisans, and exhibits throughout the village for a memorable evening of food and history on one of Nova Scotia's most scenic riverside main streets.
