About FrancoFest

FrancoFest — Halifax's festival of francophone cultures — marks its 15th edition from October 23 to 31, 2026, filling the city's stages with nine days of concerts, comedy, theatre, drag, paint nights, sports activities, and its annual francophone book fair. Organized by the Conseil communautaire du Grand-Havre, the festival celebrates the diversity of Nova Scotia's French-speaking communities, from Acadian roots to francophone newcomers from Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

The 2026 program opens Friday, October 23 with an opening-night concert by Acadian blues-rock band Les Bluecharms and Québec trad group Le Diable à Cinq. Louisiana Cajun legend Zachary Richard plays an intimate show October 30, and the Salon du livre francophone book fair runs October 28–31 with author workshops, discussion tables, literary brunches, and a youth show. Programming spans free and ticketed events, with many local artists and francophone businesses taking part across Halifax.

FrancoFest pairs naturally with the city's wider fall season — arrive early and you can catch the closing weekend of Devour! Food Film Fest in the Annapolis Valley — and it's a rare chance to experience the Acadian and francophone culture that shapes this province without leaving the city. Most events are centrally located and walkable; book concert tickets early for the opening show and Zachary Richard.
