About HarvFest on the Harbour

HarvFEST on the Harbour brings a full afternoon of harvest fun to the Pictou waterfront on Saturday, October 17, 2026, spreading across two locations: the Love Local Vendor Village on the waterfront (artisan market vendors, live music, pumpkin carving, a kids' zone with bouncy houses, fire pits with s'mores) and partially-closed Water Street downtown (live music, food vendors, and pumpkin-inspired specials from local businesses). The day builds to the Pumpkin Harbour Glow-Up at dusk, when the boardwalk lights up with a pathway of glowing jack-o'-lanterns.

Now in its fourth year, the festival also runs a Pumpkin Pie Baking Contest and the Great Pumpkin Treasure Hunt through downtown Pictou β€” hidden pumpkins and surprises that turn the town into a family scavenger hunt. It's free to wander, timed for peak fall colour on the Northumberland Shore, and sized right for families: an afternoon, not a full weekend.

Pictou sits about an hour and a half north of Halifax and makes an easy autumn loop with the region's shoreline β€” pair it with Tatamagouche or the Northumberland beaches, and check the Town of Pictou / Discover Pictou channels for the exact vendor list and Glow-Up time before you go. A note on dates: some calendar feeds now show an October 24 date, but Tourism Nova Scotia's 2026 listing and fall-events guide both confirm Saturday, October 17.

Make the most of your time in Northumberland Shore - pair HarvFest on the Harbour with our Sable Island guide, Family Travel Guide, and Best Day Trips from Halifax. They're each packed with itinerary ideas, local tips, and everything you need to extend your stay.
