About Festival Savalette
Festival Savalette is an annual celebration of Acadian culture and heritage hosted by La Société Acadienne de Torbé in the close-knit communities of Larry's River and Port Felix on Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore. Marking its 21st anniversary in 2026, the festival was a vibrant five-day program of traditional music, language preservation, genealogy workshops, artisan markets, and community feasts that honoured the enduring Acadian spirit of the Tor Bay region.
The 2026 edition ran from August 5 to 9 with events centred at the CABMF (Communities Along the Bay Multi-Use Facility) and École Belle-Baie in Larry's River, with the opening ceremony and boat parade at Place Savalette in Port Felix and festival masses at St. Peter's Parish Church in Larry's River. Signature events included the Tintamarre — a joyful noise march with pots, pans, and whistles that proclaimed Acadian pride — the l'Ordre du Bon Temps community banquet, a genealogy workshop exploring local roots, and a traditional Acadian dance with live music. A full schedule of youth activities, a virtual duck race, artisan market, and the Festival Sunday Brunch rounded out the program.
The festival's setting in the rural fishing communities of Larry's River and Port Felix offered an authentic glimpse into Acadian life on the Eastern Shore. Nearby Tor Bay Provincial Park provides hiking trails and coastal scenery, while the region's beaches, historic sites, and the scenic Marine Drive make it an ideal destination for a culturally enriching summer getaway.
