Hal-Con Sci-Fi & Fantasy Convention

Hal-Con is Atlantic Canada's premier sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming convention, turning the Halifax Convention Centre into a weekend-long celebration of pop culture. Every November more than 10,000 fans descend on downtown Halifax for three packed days of fandom spanning science fiction, fantasy, horror, anime, and tabletop gaming. The 2026 convention runs November 6–8 and fills every hall with celebrity guests, working artists, and creators from across the genre spectrum. It is one of the most energetic weekends in the region, where lifelong fans and curious newcomers alike find their people.

Programming stretches across celebrity Q&As, autograph sessions, and photo ops with actors, authors, and illustrators. The cosplay scene is a true highlight, capped by a marquee contest showcasing months of painstaking, screen-accurate craftsmanship. A massive vendor and artist marketplace fills the exhibition floor with comics, miniatures, props, prints, and handmade geek treasure, while dedicated tabletop and video gaming areas host tournaments and open play throughout the weekend. Dozens of panels dig into writing, worldbuilding, fandom history, and genre deep cuts.
