About Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival

The Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival was an annual week-long outdoor painting celebration set against the world's highest tides on the Bay of Fundy. Artists from across the region and beyond set up their easels along the Minas Basin shoreline and the dramatic Fundy coast to capture the scenery in real time, en plein air. The 2026 edition ran June 16–21.

Visitors could watch artists at work at scenic viewpoints along the Cliffs of Fundy UNESCO Global Geopark, meet the painters, and view and purchase finished pieces at pop-up exhibitions and sales throughout the week. Some workshops and special events required advance registration.

Parrsboro was the gateway to the Cliffs of Fundy Geopark, so the festival paired naturally with fossil hunting at nearby Joggins, tidal bore viewing, and scenic drives along the Fundy Shore β€” a perfect combination of art and one of Nova Scotia's most spectacular natural landscapes.

Make the most of your time in Fundy Shore - pair Parrsboro International Plein Air Festival with our Cliffs of Fundy Geopark guide, Family Travel Guide, and tidal bore rafting guide. They're each packed with itinerary ideas, local tips, and everything you need to extend your stay.
